Metal for Your Mental Health is a non-profit therapy practice that supports pre-teens, teens, and transitional age youth with their mental health needs through combining evidence-based traditional talk therapy practices with their interests in metal and adjacent music.
Therapists who also have a passion for music will utilize the shared interest for the purpose of rapport building and utilizing the strengths and values found within the metal genre: empowerment, community, self-expression, open-mindedness, emotional regulation, and commitment to values.

…But what KIND of metal?
As a longtime fan of metal and most rock-adjacent music, I’ve heard and seen a lot. And we both know, there is such a vast selection of excellent bands and subgenres to enjoy. We may not have exactly the same bands in common. But we do have the values of being within the community and enjoy the themes of this genre. Not a lot of band choices could phase me, so please don’t hesitate to share!
What if I don’t listen to metal?
That’s ok! Do you think we could still be a good fit? Do you love music too? We can still explore how to use YOUR favorite music in combination with our skills. Let’s schedule a consult session and go from there.
